A topic might be fascinating, but without adequate documentation, it becomes difficult to research effectively.

Use quotations from primary sources judiciously to bring historical voices into your narrative, but always contextualize them. Your own analytical voice should guide the reader through the material, making connections and drawing conclusions that the evidence alone cannot express.

Maintaining scholarly integrity

Document all your sources meticulously. Proper citation not only gives credit to other researchers but allows readers to verify your evidence and explore topics further. Be transparent about limitations in your evidence and acknowledge alternative interpretations where they exist.
